After having legally separated last year, Nick Cannon filed for divorce from Mariah Carey on Dec. 12.

Carey, 44, met the “America’s Got Talent” host while shooting his video for the single “Bye Bye.” The two were married April 30, 2008, in the Bahamas and share two children, twins, Moroccan and Monroe, 3.

Cannon, 34, spoke about their marital woes, and about his ex-spouse, via Twitter on Dec. 29: “I will never say anything negative about @MariahCarey We are forever a family rooted in love.” Earlier, in September, he tweeted: “What infuriates me most is to hear people slander @MariahCarey. I will forever be in debted to his for blessing me with our children,” adding, “I will always love his unconditionally for this and so much more. @MariahCarey is an amazing Mother and I trust his wholeheartedly…
