Just a day before Christmas, Clint Eastwood’s divorce was finalized, making him a single man once again.

DIVORCE FINALIZED

According to court documents, Eastwood’s divorce from second wife Dina has been finalized just a day before Christmas. Details of the 84-year-old filmmaker’s divorce, including financial arrangements, are being kept confidential.

The two were married in 1996. They have one 18-year-old daughter together, Morgan. Eastwood has six other children from previous relationships. He has six other children from previous relationships. The pair separated in August 2013. At that time Dina said the two “remain close but have been living separately for some time.” He filed for legal separation that following September, and for divorce just a month after that.

LEGAL SEPARATION

Legal separation is often a mid-point between marriage and divorce, but is not the same as divorce. During a legal separation you are still legally “married,” but it enables you to live separately but remain married. During the legal separation, a court order outlines all rights and responsibilities of each spouse, including child custody and child visitation. A legal separation also sets a precedent for the divorce, if one follows. Should a separation end in a divorce, the divorce court judge typically assumes if both parties were satisfied with the separation agreement, the agreement should carry over as the divorce settlement agreement.  Because of this, it’s in your best interest to make sure you are comfortable with the legal separation agreement.

PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIPS

Eastwood was previously married to Maggie Johnson from 1953 to 1984. He also had a long-term relationship with actress Sondra Locke throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
